Marissa joined DMS in 2005 and on 1 October 2013 became the proud owner of the company. As Managing Director, Marissa drives the core values of high standard customer service and ethical practice within the company. She ensures the day to day delivery of our professional services to our business partners and the business events industry. Her passion for sales ensures a motivated team of professionals who work to deliver targets with enthusiasm and drive.
Marissa has a background in tourism and hospitality spanning over 20 years, and her experience working for multinational organisations both in Australia and overseas has enabled her to further assist with the development of Destination Marketing Services into a strategic, holistic and full service representation company.

About Leila Bishara (formerly Fiedler) – DMS company founder and former owner
Leila is a highly respected and innovative leader in the Australian business events sector. Leila established DMS in 1992 after seeing that many Australian and New Zealand event companies and conference organisers were struggling to source destination management companies (DMCs) in countries where they had limited contacts or resources.
Over the 21 years that Leila led DMS the company grew to represent more than 35 DMCs worldwide and her operations further expanded to include a hotel representation division offering sales and marketing representation for international hotels and resorts.
In October 2013 shortly after celebrating DMS’ 21st Anniversary and with the company in an extremely strong position, Leila decided to sell her company, DMS to the General Manager, Marissa Fernandez.
