A small country rich with historical and biblical sites. Jordan also boasts beautiful year round weather, unique landscapes and unforgettable cultural experiences. Considered a unique safe haven in this region it is also known for the warm hospitality of its local people.
Adventure & the outdoors
A visit to Wadi Rum is a must do. Be amazed by the scenery amid the stupendous cliffs, canyons, and seemingly endless orange sands. Enter this desert area on a camel, horse or even a 4×4 jeep, driven by your local Bedouin guide. Wadi Rum also has many areas available to hike and rock climb for those looking to add some real adventure to their holiday.
At the seaside resort of Aquaba you can enjoy first-class scuba diving and snorkeling among the most beautiful and best-preserved coral reefs in the world. Swimming, sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing or viewing the underwater delights on a glass-bottom boat are all readily available at Aquaba. Join in on a Camel or donkey caravan – reliving the days of Lawrence of Arabia through the central highlands and eastern Arabian deserts of Jordan. Take a journey along the edge of the Arabian Desert in a vintage steam train. Why not try a helicopter or hot air balloon ride rising high above the mountain tops in Wadi Rum or around Petra, and for those seeking an “adrenaline fix” you can elect to trek back down the mountain on foot. Private plane or gliding rentals are also readily available throughout Jordan.
There is no mistaking Jordan is a unique kingdom steeped in history and culture. Jordan is home to a number of UNESCO world heritage sites including the ancient “Lost City” of Petra. Travelling along the scenic Kings Highway will allow you to view the remains of ancient Crusader forts and outposts which will take you back in time and should not be missed. Many of the sights around Jordan may seem familiar. Films such as Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Lawrence of Arabia, The Mummy Returns and the 2008 the multi academy award winning movie The Hurt Locker have all used locations in Jordan.
Seeing Petra during the day is awe-inspiring. However by night, the ancient city transforms into a mystical magical place. Thousands of candles guide visitors through the Siq (a canyon) to the main square where the Treasury is located. It’s a truly romantic experience and has inspired many a wedding proposal.
