Kwita Izina – Rawanda’s Gorilla naming ceremony
On the 2nd of September, Rwanda held its annual naming ceremony for newly born baby mountain gorillas. This year marks the 12th ceremony and 22 baby gorillas were named giving a total of 238 gorillas since 2015. The ceremony spans for one week and draws 20,000 domestic and international visitors each year. To attend next year you or your clients have the option of staying at the new Wilderness Safari’s Bisate Lodge. The lodge is due to open on the 1st of June 2017 and will comprise of six forest villas. Each equipped with a bedroom, reception space and bathroom, all warmed by a central fire-place, offering views across a private deck towards Mount Bisoke.
